watercolors are good for the soul.

i've had this new obsession with watercolor paintings recently. you know when you get a new obsession with something, then start seeing it everywhere? that's what is happening over here. probably  it's that dang new instagram app everyone has. or all the watercolor tattoo pins. (seriously, look at them on pinterest and your mind will be blown) watercolor is just so dang dreamy.

i should let you in on my little secret.. painting totally scares me. there are great ideas in my head, but it will never translate to paper. i have a stash of watercolors in my craft area (cause that's essential to have even if you don't paint, right?) last night i got a little adventurous and painted some.. (for all you pros out there.. #pleasedontjudge)

these will be background pages for a new art journal and came out a little bit more fun than i expected.. the end result was kind of a surprise- they just kind of formed by themselves. i hadn't touched water colors since i was a kid, but it ended up being a fun little creative outlet. and plus, it was on my birthday list to paint an abstract painting! what has been your favorite new creative outlet lately?
